Puerto Rican cuatrista Quique Domenech will bring one of the main symbols of Puerto Rican culture directly to the classroom with 'Mi Cuatro en tu Escuela', an educational tour of 11 institutions in Puerto Rico from October 19 to November 5. The initiative, created by Domenech, aims to introduce students from kindergarten to 12th grade to the Puerto Rican cuatro, using music as a starting point to discuss history, culture, talent, discipline, and entrepreneurship.

Through in-person workshops, students will learn about the history and evolution of the cuatro, listen to the instrument up close, and share with an artist who has taken his music to over 20 countries. Domenech, recently inducted into the Puerto Rico Music Hall of Fame, sees this as an opportunity to use his trajectory to inspire a new generation.

The tour will begin on October 19 in Guayanilla and visit various schools and universities across the island, including the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico in Ponce and the Universidad de Puerto Rico in Mayagüez, before concluding on November 5 at the Colegio Marista de Guaynabo, Domenech’s alma mater.
