Judge Sylvia Saldaña of the Guayama Court determined probable cause for arrest on a charge of mistreatment by threat under the Law for the Prevention and Intervention of Domestic Violence against Iván García Román, 38. An investigation by Agent Carlos López Díaz of the Gender Violence and Juvenile Affairs Division of the Guayama CIC found that on the afternoon of October 9, García Román started a discussion with his wife, threatening her, in two separate incidents, with their two minor children present during one.
Prosecutor Dayana Rosario filed the charge. García Román posted $60,000 bail and was released until the preliminary hearing set for October 20. A protection order was also issued in favor of the victim, effective until October 10, 2027.
