A 4-year-old girl was shot in the buttock and her father, Luis Yoniel Pérez Hernández, 34, was killed by gunmen Saturday night at the intersection of Avenida Las Palmas in Guaynabo’s Amelia neighborhood. The shooting was reported at 10:28 PM after 911 dispatchers heard gunfire. Police found Pérez Hernández’s body riddled with bullets and a white 2020 Mercedes Benz vehicle with bullet holes nearby.
Pérez Hernández had been charged in August with domestic violence and illegal possession of a firearm. A 27-year-old man was also shot and is in stable condition. The girl and the man were taken to the Puerto Rico Medical Center in Río Piedras in private vehicles.
Agent Carlos Lafontaine of the Bayamón Criminal Investigations Corps’ Homicide Division is investigating the case along with prosecutor Carlos Rodríguez.
