Juan Dalmau, the former candidate for governor from the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP), revealed on Tuesday that he has held meetings with figures from the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) and the New Progressive Party (PNP) to discuss a possible broader political alliance for the 2028 elections. Dalmau expressed confidence that a new alliance will be formed, transcending the PIP and the Victoria Ciudadana Movement (MVC), although details of an electoral alliance have not been discussed.
He mentioned areas of agreement, including opposition to the Fiscal Control Board, the Esencia project, and the situation at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR). Dalmau also stated that he has spoken with figures from the PPD and PNP who are willing to participate in a different political effort, putting the country first. However, he did not identify the individuals involved in these approaches, but assured that there is a positive atmosphere. Dalmau made these comments on 'Pegao’s en la mañana' on Radio Isla 1320 AM.
