In Puerto Rico, construction has begun on a new private aviation center at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, a $54 million project financed entirely with private Puerto Rican capital. The Bluesky San Juan complex will include a modern terminal, a 275,000-square-foot platform, and over 60,000 square feet of hangars. It will offer premium services for passengers and crews, fuel supply, and US Customs and Border Protection facilities for international flights.

The project, developed by a group of Puerto Rican investors with experience in aviation, construction, and infrastructure, aims to strengthen Puerto Rico’s airport capacity and elevate the standards of executive aviation in the Caribbean. During construction, it is estimated to generate around 30 jobs, and once operational, it will create between 60 and 80 direct permanent jobs and around 110 indirect jobs.

The construction is expected to be completed by summer 2028, with operations scheduled to begin in the fall of that year. According to Colonel José Maldonado, a partner at Bluesky San Juan, the project is a testament to what can be achieved when Puerto Ricans combine experience, vision, and capital to invest in their country.

Jorge Hernández, president of Aerostar Airport Holdings, highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen the airport’s infrastructure and specialized services. The project aims to strengthen Puerto Rico’s connections with international markets for flights from South America, Europe, and Africa, and to provide greater convenience for flights from the United States.
