Uber Seeks to Change Passenger Pickup Point at Luis Muñoz Marín Airport

Published Aug 6, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

Uber is in discussions with Aerostar Airport Holdings, the operator of the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), to change the passenger pickup point, currently located near the end of the main arrival gates. Laura Santillán, Uber's general manager for Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Panama, expects a response from Aerostar within the next few months.

The goal is to improve the user experience, with the current pickup point located 250-300 meters from the main gates, resulting in a similar walking time to the waiting time for an Uber. Uber has been operating in Puerto Rico for 10 years and has faced challenges, including controversy over passenger transportation to and from the airport.

The company has introduced new features, including the ability to reserve restaurants and book hotels through partnerships with Open Table and Expedia.
