A 42-year-old man from San Germán faces criminal charges for allegedly assaulting his partner in the face and leaving her with several bruises, the Puerto Rico Police Bureau reported. Charges were filed against Gerson Toro Pérez for violations of Articles 3.1, for abuse, and 3.3 B, abuse by threat, of Law 54 on the Prevention of and Intervention in Domestic Violence.
According to the investigation, the events occurred on October 13, when the accused allegedly attacked the victim after she told him to leave the residence. Agent Zuanette Pérez, under the supervision of Sergeant Bernice Rosario, consulted the case with prosecutor Rosa Acevedo, who instructed that charges be brought before the court. Judge Margieanne Casiano found probable cause for arrest and set a global bail of $50,000, which the accused did not post.
Toro Pérez was fingerprinted and booked into the Ponce Correctional Institution. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2026.
