Puerto Rico’s national youth Baseball5 team qualified for the 2027 Youth World Cup by finishing fourth at the Pan American Championship in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. The Puerto Rican team closed the tournament with a record of three wins and four defeats, a result that earned it the fourth and last World Cup berth available. This will be Puerto Rico’s second appearance in a Youth World Cup in the discipline.
During the championship, Puerto Rico beat Argentina, Peru and the Dominican Republic, while losing twice to Mexico and once each to Venezuela and Cuba. Cuba took the gold medal with a perfect 7-0 record, while Venezuela and Mexico finished 5-2; those three countries, along with Puerto Rico, secured World Cup qualification. The Dominican Republic, Argentina and Peru fell outside the qualifying spots.
Separately, Puerto Rico’s adult team ended its tournament run at one win and five losses, with its only victory coming against Mexico. The international calendar continues in Puerto Rico, which will host the adult-category Baseball5 World Cup from December 9 to 13 at the Carolina beach resort.
