A 79-year-old man died Monday from injuries sustained in a traffic accident around 2:30 PM at the intersection of PR-111 and PR-125, at kilometer 3.1, in Moca. According to preliminary Puerto Rico Police information, Efraín Rivera Acevedo, 79, a Moca resident, was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla and, on reaching the intersection with PR-111, tried to cross without taking due precautions, so the front of a white 2022 Nissan Sentra struck the left side of his car.

The Nissan was driven by a 37-year-old man, also a Moca resident. The police report states that "as a result of the collision, Rivera Acevedo sustained serious injuries that caused his death on the spot." The driver of the Nissan was given a breath test, which showed 0.000% alcohol in his system.

Agent Abdiel Ferrer Morales, assigned to the Aguadilla Highway Patrols Division, under the supervision of Sergeant David Pardo and prosecutor Diana Méndez, is in charge of the investigation.
