Veteran wrestler and Popular Democratic Party Senate candidate José Laureano, known as Chicky Starr, responded again to the controversy involving senators Eliezer Molina, Carmelo Ríos and Migdalia Padilla, this time with a message on Facebook aimed at the independent legislator. "Senator Eliezer Molina, let me clarify a point. Remember that you and I have one single purpose, which is to help the people and remove everyone who has spent more than 20 years in a seat doing nothing. Their stories are over, no one believes them anymore," Laureano wrote.
"Every time they mention my name, they start trembling."
The controversy began on Monday during a discussion in the Puerto Rico Senate over a $3 million allocation to WIPR, when Molina referred to the wrestler, who is seeking a seat for the Bayamón district. During the exchange, Padilla blurted out a frustrated remark mentioning Chicky Starr, while Ríos called the independent senator a "circus dwarf."
Earlier, in an interview with WAPA Television’s show Lo Sé Todo, Laureano said the pro-statehood senators seem threatened by his political aspirations, adding, "Every time they mention my name, they start trembling." He is running for one of the Senate seats Ríos and Padilla currently hold.
