Puerto Rican journalist Lilia Luciano, a national correspondent for CBS News known for her international coverage and documentary work, will deliver the keynote lecture at the third Jornada de Comunicación e Información Ángel Ramos, organized by the School of Communication and Information at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus, with sponsorship from the Ángel Ramos Foundation. The lecture, titled "El mundo cabe en una isla: periodismo, identidad y el poder de contar sin pedir permiso" (The world fits on an island: journalism, identity and the power of telling without asking permission), will take place Thursday, October 22, at 9:30 AM at the UPR Theater, before UPR students, students from other universities and more than a dozen public schools across Puerto Rico.

Luciano’s selection for this year’s Ángel Ramos Chair in Journalism reflects a career spanning Univision, NBC News and CBS News, covering international conflicts, political processes, migration and documentaries on Puerto Rico and Latin America. School dean Julia Vélez González said the visit lets students learn firsthand from a Puerto Rican journalist who has succeeded in international settings, while professor Israel Rodríguez Sánchez, the chair’s coordinator, emphasized the chance for students to hear how a journalism career is built.

The forum runs through Friday, October 23, under the theme "La comunicación y las ciencias de la información en un ecosistema en transformación," and includes lectures, dialogues, workshops, film activities and a student innovation challenge. After Luciano’s talk, Thursday’s master dialogue, from 10:30 AM to noon, will feature Luciano, Valeria Collazo Cañizares, Eliut Flores and Elsa del Pino, moderated by journalist and writer Ana Teresa Toro, spokesperson for the Ángel Ramos Foundation.
