Toyota de Puerto Rico announced an investment of more than $55 million to expand and modernize its Vehicle and Parts Distribution Center in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. The center, inaugurated in 2008 with an initial investment of $43 million, will grow to 300,000 square feet. Construction will proceed in phases and is expected to be completed in 2031, increasing the logistics capacity of a facility that serves Toyota’s 24 dealerships in Puerto Rico.
The center currently receives, inspects, processes and prepares more than 35,000 vehicles annually, and stores and distributes close to 400,000 parts and accessories. Toyota de Puerto Rico president Jaycie Dane said the investment reaffirms the confidence Toyota has placed in Puerto Rico for generations and the company’s commitment to the island’s future. Nancy Navales, vice president of Toyota de Puerto Rico and executive in charge of the project, said the initiative will expand capacity, optimize receiving, inventory and dispatch flows, reinforce security and incorporate technology to improve operational visibility and control, with redesigned processes and stronger safety standards to increase efficiency and reduce response times.
Kathy Joyce, a representative of Toyota Motor North America, said Puerto Rico holds a strategic position within the Toyota organization.
