Puerto Rico’s Department of Education (DEPR) has invited mothers, fathers and guardians to public schools this Friday, October 23, for an Open House during which schools will hand out academic progress reports covering the first ten weeks of the school year. Under the campaign "¡Te veo en la escuela! Tu presencia hace la diferencia" ("See you at school! Your presence makes the difference"), the effort by Governor Jenniffer González Colón’s administration aims to strengthen communication between families and teachers, recognize student achievements, identify areas needing support and set strategies for the rest of the semester.

Education Secretary Eliezer Ramos Parés said in a written statement that the progress report is a starting point for agreements between families and teachers. Report delivery and family visits are scheduled for the morning, though schools may extend the process all day; at campuses holding meetings or professional activities in the afternoon, arrangements will be made to hand reports to guardians who come then.

The Office for the Integration of Family and Community is promoting welcoming environments, at-home learning tips and information on available resources, and school communities are invited to involve their Family Committees through information tables and volunteer opportunities. School principals will inform families of the schedule. Future report deliveries are set for January 15, March 19 and May 28, 2027.
