Puerto Rican singer Anuel AA, a pioneer of Latin trap, announced Tuesday at the Billboard Latin Music Week event in Miami Beach that he will release a corridos album as a "gift to Mexico," while also putting out his previously announced urban album "Real Hasta la Muerte 2," which mixes reggaeton and trap. The 33-year-old artist, whose real name is Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago, did not give an exact release date but said he would celebrate the production on his birthday, November 26.
He also said he will record with Jesús Ortiz, leader of the group Fuerza Regida. Anuel AA said he is a fan and friend of genre figures including Peso Pluma, Fuerza Regida, Tito Double P and Netón Vega, and that he has spent more time in Mexico this year than in the United States, listening to corridos almost exclusively.
He described his own trap style as "corridos puertorriqueños" but noted trap is "dirtier" than corridos. The new albums will come four years after his last release, "LLNM2" (Las leyendas nunca mueren). Billboard Latin Music Week began Monday and concludes Thursday with the Billboard Latin Music Awards gala.
