PRISA Group announced the development of DISTRITO Park, a new public, family-oriented park in the DISTRITO T-Mobile area of San Juan’s Convention District, with an approximate investment of $4 million. The park will include a central green area surrounded by nature and landscaping for activities, events and presentations; a playground for children of different ages; a large dog park; shaded rest areas; and attractions such as a carousel, minigolf and bumper boats.

Most of the park, including the central green, playground, dog park and public programming, will be free and open to the public; only some attractions and food and beverages will carry a per-use cost. Federico Stubbe, Jr., chief executive of PRISA Group, said the park is the next piece of the company’s vision of building a world-class destination in the area, work it began with Hyatt House about 15 years ago.

Verónica Ferraiuoli, executive director of the Puerto Rico Convention Center District Authority, said private investment can create spaces that generate economic activity and improve quality of life. The park will include a greenway-style central strip on the north side of the Convention Center. Construction is expected to take about 12 months, preceded by a predevelopment stage, with opening projected for the first quarter of 2028.

PRISA Group will handle operation, security, cleaning and maintenance, and DISTRITO T-Mobile currently receives more than 3.5 million visitors a year.
