Chef Noelian Ortiz, a food personality on Telemundo Puerto Rico’s program "Día a día", announced the sudden death of her mother, Noemí Cardona, through a message on social media. "In less than 48 hours, my world changed completely. I never imagined having to say goodbye to my mom like this, so suddenly", Ortiz wrote.
In less than 48 hours, my world changed completely.
She described her mother as more than a maternal figure: a friend, confidante and life companion who also played a central role in raising her daughter, and with whom she lived. Ortiz said she will take time away to grieve and stay close to her family. "This 2026 has given us very painful lessons", she said, adding a farewell: "Until we meet again, my beautiful mommy".
The death comes weeks after Ortiz asked for prayers for her sister Julissa, who has a brain tumor and underwent an emergency craniotomy; the family opened a GoFundMe campaign to help with Julissa’s medical expenses. Ortiz, a local television personality tied to gastronomy, is part of the "Día a día" team and has developed business and educational projects related to cooking and the arts.
