The report counted 137 homicides, up from 112 in the second quarter of 2025, and 54 suicides, up from 49 a year earlier. Of the 137 homicide victims, 121 were men (88%) and 16 were women (12%), with people aged 20 to 39 the most affected group; 92.0% of homicides were committed with firearms. Homicides were reported in 39 of the island’s 78 municipalities, with the highest rates in the San Juan (8.1 per 100,000 residents) and Carolina (6.4 per 100,000) police areas.
San Juan and Ponce together accounted for 25.6% of all violent deaths. Suicide victims were 77.8% men and skewed older: 44.4% were 40 to 59 and 29.6% were 60 or older.
