A motorcyclist died in the early hours of Sunday, October 25, 2026, following an accident on PR-2, in front of Mueblerías Berríos, in the Hato Tejas neighborhood of Bayamón. According to preliminary Puerto Rico Police information, the driver of a Kia Sedona was preparing to make a turn when the motorcyclist struck the vehicle. The injured rider was transported to Doctor’s Center Hospital in Bayamón, where his death was later certified.
A subsequent statement from authorities established that a 39-year-old female driver was making the turn when a Yamaha motorcycle struck the front of the Kia. The motorcyclist was identified as Luis Jomar Colón Ortiz, 31 years old and a resident of Cataño. As a result of the impact, the rider was thrown from the motorcycle.
Officer Nicky Ruiz Ramos, assigned to Bayamón’s Highway Patrol Division, was in charge of the investigation, together with prosecutor Lis López of the Bayamón prosecutor’s office.
