New Breast CT System Without Compression Arrives in Puerto Rico

Published Oct 27, 2026, 6:12 PM ASTvia WAPA TV

A new technology for breast studies without compression has arrived in Puerto Rico: the Koning Vera Breast CT system, available at the Dorado Breast and Radiology Center. The system is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and produces three-dimensional images of the breast without the compression characteristic of traditional mammograms, which seeks to reduce pain and discomfort during the exam.

It can be used in both women and men. Unlike conventional mammography, the system obtains images of the breast from different angles, which can make it easier to identify some lesions that are not easily seen in other studies. It also allows contrast-enhanced studies and biopsy procedures, depending on the system’s capabilities.

For more information, the Dorado Breast and Radiology Center can be reached at 787-965-2040 or 787-965-2041.
