Senator Jamie Barlucea Rodríguez of the New Progressive Party said on Thursday that, in the Senate inquiry into hiring processes at the Department of the Family now under legislative scrutiny, he would already be summoning all the figures involved, adding that he respects the work of Family Committee chair Senator Wandy Soto but that the people of Puerto Rico deserve accountability. His remarks add him to the senators demanding that additional entities, such as LAP Consulting Group, be called to testify.

Soto, for her part, said she will wait to receive the remaining documentation that Family Department secretary Suzanne Roig Fuertes has until Friday to deliver before deciding whether to summon more witnesses. While several senators insist that information is still outstanding, the agency maintains that it has complied with all established terms and deadlines. Barlucea Rodríguez also opined that the process should not be postponed. The exchange took place during an event at the Senate on affordable housing.
