The town of San Germán, Puerto Rico will hold the Festival de Arroz con Dulce y Almojábanas from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, November 22, 2026, at the Plaza Francisco Mariano Quiñones. Over three days the town will gather typical gastronomy, music, cultural activities and more than 50 artisans in a celebration dedicated to preserving Puerto Rican flavors and traditions.

The most anticipated moment comes on Sunday, November 22, when, starting at 10:00 AM, organizers will begin making what they present as the largest arroz con dulce in the Caribbean. The traditional dessert combines rice, coconut milk, ginger, cinnamon and other spices. On Saturday, November 21, at 2:00 PM, a gastronomic competition will test participants’ skills preparing arroz con dulce and almojábanas, sharing their own versions of the traditional recipes.

The program includes musical performances, cultural encounters and a crafts exhibition, with announced artists including La Tuna de Cayey, Rikaswing, Shabum, Juancho y A Son de Guerra, among others. On Sunday, the 5K Arroz con Dulce y Almojábanas race starts at 7:00 AM from the Plaza Santo Domingo, with registration costing $30. The festival is organized by San Germán’s Municipal Administration, produced by Sanabria Events, as part of efforts to promote gastronomic traditions and cultural and tourist activity in the urban center.
