Brigades from Isabela’s Municipal Public Works Department carried out cleaning and debris removal work in the area of Guajataca Beach in Isabela, Puerto Rico, as part of the town’s efforts to keep its coastal areas in good condition. Mayor Miguel "Ricky" Méndez Pérez said the work is part of the routine maintenance of public spaces carried out by the municipal administration.
"It is routine for us to clean the coasts, this is nothing new for us. We thank our colleagues for their usual effort, commitment and dedication to keep our beaches clean and ready for the enjoyment of residents and visitors," said Méndez Pérez. The mayor also urged residents and visitors to dispose of their waste properly and help maintain the beach.
Guajataca Beach is known for its old railway tunnel, built during the era when Puerto Rico produced sugar cane on a large scale. The passage serves as access to the coast, frequented by visitors and surfers. The municipality noted that access to the beach is free of cost and that it has parking in front of the coast and in nearby areas.
