Why this matters: A $77 million hotel opening in the Convention Center District, partly funded with a $10 million Department of Housing contribution and CDBG-IPG funds, adds 257 rooms to San Juan’s convention-driven tourism economy.

Prisa Group has inaugurated the Hampton by Hilton San Juan and Homewood Suites by Hilton San Juan, a new dual-brand hotel complex with 257 rooms in the Convention Center District, backed by a $77 million investment. The Homewood Suites by Hilton San Juan offers 125 residential-style suites designed for short or extended stays, with separate sleeping and living areas and fully equipped kitchens; some rooms also have washer and dryer.

The Hampton by Hilton San Juan provides 132 rooms with microwaves and mini refrigerators. Operations of both hotels will be handled by Prisa Hospitality, marking the first newly built hotel the company operates directly. Construction began in 2024 and the project was financed by Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, with funds from the CDBG-IPG program, and received a $10 million contribution from the Department of Housing.
