Why this matters: Liberty is one of Puerto Rico’s main telecom providers, so the mix of rising profits and shrinking Internet and phone subscriber bases matters to island households’ service options and pricing.

Liberty Puerto Rico’s earnings (OIBDA) rose 7.5% in the third quarter of the year, to $102.7 million, compared with $95.6 million in the same period last year. Revenue fell 3.2% to $288.6 million between July and September. Ignacio Román, general manager of Liberty Communications of Puerto Rico, said the numbers continue to improve consistently, that customers are responding well to the company’s innovative products and services and to upgrades to its fixed and mobile networks for greater capacity and resilience, and that the results come from employees’ efforts.

Earnings had risen 26.3% in 2025, to $353.4 million, after a 36.5% drop in 2024, which was affected by the migration of AT&T customers following the acquisition of that company’s assets in 2020. As of September 30, 2026, Liberty Puerto Rico had 673,100 mobile subscribers, slightly below the previous quarter. Internet subscribers fell to 484,500, down 1,800, and the company lost 2,500 telephone subscribers, to 289,600.

The company gained 6,000 postpaid mobile subscribers. Liberty Puerto Rico is part of Liberty Latin America, whose revenue grew 0.4% in the third quarter to $1.12 billion. Its earnings rose to $454 million, 4.8% more than in the third quarter of last year.
