El Nuevo Día staff traveled to the Centro Yolanda Guerrero in Guaynabo on Friday, November 6, to walk older adults through the newspaper’s ePaper platform, which lets readers open the traditional print edition on electronic devices. The session, held during an AARP Puerto Rico educational day, was led by Carmelo Rodríguez Quetell, lead of Reader Revenue and Growth at El Nuevo Día, who explained step by step how to reach the digital paper and what it offers readers.

He said the ePaper has been part of the outlet’s offering for years and keeps the same reading experience as print, and that the daily edition is currently available free of charge, while subscribers can consult an archive of editions going back to 2011. Features shown included enlarging pages, switching to a more comfortable reading format, listening to news in audio, and saving or printing articles.

Rodríguez Quetell also explained the difference between open-access content and subscriber-only material, including investigations and special reports, and announced the coming launch of a loyalty program, "Club llena tu día," offering discounts, raffles and other benefits to subscribers. Ivette Mojica, a subscriber of decades and a nurse who has also worked in real estate, said she used to save health and property items from the paper and that the guidance showed her she can still do much of that digitally. One participant received a six-month digital subscription, and attendees’ questions were answered.
