Puerto Rican engineer David Bartolomei has developed Monitorea, an artificial intelligence-powered media monitoring platform that helps businesses identify relevant conversations across radio, television, podcasts and digital media, including discussions that keyword-based tools may miss. The platform detects conversations tied to a company’s interests even when its name or brand is not mentioned, then provides transcripts, summaries and context so communications and marketing teams can analyze coverage without listening to hours of broadcasts.
"A company can be part of an important conversation without knowing it," said Bartolomei, Monitorea’s founder. The platform analyzes more than 5,000 hours of spoken content per month in Puerto Rico across radio, television and podcasts, plus approximately 30,000 pieces of digital content. Bartolomei said it reduces operational tasks that traditionally take between two and six hours per analyst each day.
Monitorea distinguishes organic editorial coverage, sponsored segments and paid advertising, and helps clients prepare share-of-voice reports. The concept dates back more than a decade, when Bartolomei studied Computer Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and built an early prototype with IBM Watson. In 2018 he co-founded Monito Media, which participated in the Parallel18 accelerator.
He later worked at El Nuevo Día, Ticketera, Red Ventures and Nave Bank, serving as director of Data Engineering at the latter. He began rebuilding the project in 2024 and launched a private beta in late 2025, self-funded throughout. He is part of NVIDIA Inception, and the company has tested national and local radio stations in Washington, D.C., as it looks to expand beyond Puerto Rico.
