The Osos de Manatí basketball team, despite being plagued by injuries, continues to fight for a spot in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) playoffs. With a record of 11-18, they are currently at the bottom of Conference A, four games behind the fourth and final qualifying position held by the Cangrejeros de Santurce. The Osos have five games left in the regular season and will be eliminated if they lose two or if Santurce wins the necessary games.
Coach Iván Ríos stated that the team has not given up, with the eight available players committed to the cause. The Osos' remaining games are against the Piratas de Quebradillas, Leones de Ponce, Capitanes de Arecibo, Criollos de Caguas, and Gigantes de Carolina-Canóvanas. Ríos is focused on keeping the team alive, rather than influencing the postseason matchups.
The team's main issue has been their performance on the road, where they have only won two of 14 games, largely due to a limited rotation caused by injuries. Prior to the tournament, the team lost Jhivvan Jackson and Ismael Yomar Cruz to injuries.
