A 61-year-old pedestrian, Iván Calderón Pérez, was killed in a traffic accident on PR-3 in front of the Dr. Federico Trilla hospital in Carolina. The incident occurred at approximately 8:49 p.m. when a 911 call reported the accident in a non-pedestrian area.
Upon arrival, agents from the Carolina Highway Patrol Division found Calderón Pérez with multiple injuries and severe wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he died while receiving medical attention. The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and underwent a breath alcohol test, which resulted in a 0.00% blood alcohol level.
The Carolina Highway Patrol Division, along with the on-duty prosecutor, is investigating the case.
