A pedestrian, identified as 34-year-old Carlos E. Cotto Madera, was fatally struck by a vehicle in front of the Caguas Court of First Instance on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 6:07 a.m. on PR-189, near kilometer 0.3.
According to the police report, Cotto Madera was attempting to cross the road outside of a pedestrian crossing zone when he was hit by a 2012 Hyundai Elantra driven by Juan Ortiz De Jesús. The driver remained at the scene and was administered a breath test, which was negative. Cotto Madera suffered multiple traumas and died instantly.
The investigation is being led by Agent Christian González González of the Caguas Highway Patrol Division and Prosecutor Amed Rivera Millán.
