A driver died in a traffic accident on Saturday night in Caguas, according to the Police. The incident occurred at approximately 9:46 p.m. on kilometer 1.5 of PR-763 road. The driver, described as between 75 and 80 years old, was traveling in a Jeep Compass when it invaded the opposite lane and collided with a 2022 Suzuki XL-7 driven by a 49-year-old man from Guayama.
After the impact, the Jeep continued moving, left the road, and crashed into an earth embankment, causing it to overturn. The driver of the Jeep was trapped, suffered severe injuries, and died at the scene. The driver of the Suzuki was unharmed and had a blood alcohol level of 0.000%.
As of Saturday, the Police had reported 113 traffic-related deaths this year, 18 fewer than the 131 registered at the same time in 2025.
