A 26-year-old tourist, Montainvius Drumon Amis, from the state of Georgia, was shot and injured in the parking lot of a Burger King restaurant in the Plaza Trujillo commercial center in Trujillo Alto. The incident occurred during the early morning hours when a suspicious situation was reported to the 9-1-1 emergency system.
Upon arrival, police found Amis with two gunshot wounds to the back and his condition was described as critical. In connection with the incident, one person was arrested at the Pedro Regalado Díaz residential area and a Glock 19X 9mm pistol, three magazines, 54 rounds of ammunition, and a 2025 Hyundai Elantra SE vehicle were seized.
The arrested individual has a valid firearms license. Agent Carmen Rivera from the Carolina CIC's Aggressions Division is leading the investigation and consulting on corresponding charges.
