Trujillo Alto is a town and municipality in the San Juan region, set inland about 11 miles from the capital. It sits on the northeastern coastal plain at the boundary between the Northern Karst Belt and the Sierra de Luquillo, bordered by Caguas and Gurabo to the south, San Juan to the northwest, and Carolina to the east.
The municipality is organized into six barrios plus the downtown Trujillo Alto Pueblo, which serves as its administrative center, and covers an area of 55.61 km² with a population of about 67,740 as of 2020. Founded in 1801, Trujillo Alto is part of the San Juan metropolitan area while retaining a landscape of river lowlands and mountains shaped by its position between two distinct geological regions.
