A 47-year-old man, identified as Dimas Laguer Figueroa, a resident of San Juan, died on Monday after being swept away by the marine current at Vacía Talega beach in Piñones, Loíza. According to preliminary information, a 9-1-1 emergency call alerted authorities to the situation at around 6:25 p.m. Municipal police from Loíza found the man, who had already been pulled out of the water, but was unresponsive.
The incident is under investigation by the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in Carolina. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated. The police reported that Laguer Figueroa was identified by a family member.
The incident occurred on the PR-187 road in the Piñones sector of Loíza.
