On Monday, the Police conducted a raid on the residence of 60-year-old Neftalí Rosado Vélez, suspected of killing his own dog in the Santa Juanita urbanization of Bayamón. According to Sergeant Carlos Bari, the operation aimed to assess the living conditions of the suspect and the animal. Bari described the home as being in 'deplorable' and 'inhumane' conditions, with urine and filth accumulation.

The dog had been under the man's care for around 15 years. The investigation continues after several 9-1-1 calls reported a situation where the man allegedly attacked the dog with a walker, causing its death. The Police found the dog lifeless in the street.

No criminal charges have been filed yet, as authorities await the dog's necropsy to determine the official cause of death. The Department of the Family took temporary custody of the suspect due to his apparent vulnerability, after his relatives refused to care for him.
