The Puerto Rico U17 women's football team will begin intense preparation in late July for their debut in the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, to be held from October 17 to November 7 in Rabat, Morocco. According to Gabriel Ortiz, Secretary General of the Puerto Rican Football Federation (FPF), the team will train in California and New York before heading to Valencia, Spain, where they will play friendly matches against top-level teams, including Canada.
The team, which secured their spot in the World Cup in March, will be the first Puerto Rican football team to participate in a FIFA World Cup. They have been placed in Group B alongside defending champions North Korea, Poland, and the top team from the African Football Confederation (CAF), which has not yet been determined.
The team's preparation plan includes facing university teams and higher-level clubs in the United States to help them prepare for the tournament.
