Three Players with Puerto Rican Heritage Hope to Enter 2026 NBA Draft

Updated Jun 23, 2026 · via Primera Hora

According to journalist Raúl Álzaga, three players with Puerto Rican heritage, Kingston Flemings, Mikel Brown Jr., and Yaxel Lendeborg, have high chances of being selected within the first 15 picks of the 2026 NBA Draft. Álzaga expressed surprise if any of the three were to be left out of the top 15. Flemings, 19, had a notable first year in the NCAA with the University of Houston, averaging 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.

Álzaga described him as a physically strong and compact player who can impact both sides of the court. Brown, 20, played for the University of Louisville, registering 18.2 points, 3.3 steals, and 4.7 assists per game. Álzaga noted that Brown has Puerto Rican heritage from his third-generation family and compared him to LaMelo Ball, but also mentioned that he can be inconsistent with his shots.

The 2026 NBA Draft will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
