Judge Rafael Parés Quiñones of the Bayamón Tribunal determined probable cause for the arrest of Roberto García Sánchez, 33, a resident of Trujillo Alto, for the crimes of destroying evidence and abandoning the scene of an accident where a person died. García Sánchez, who has federal criminal records for narcotics trafficking, did not post the $50,000 bail and is being held at the Guaynabo Metropolitan Detention Center after his probation was revoked. The incident occurred on April 22 at 3:55 a.m. on PR-861 highway in Bayamón, where García Sánchez allegedly struck pedestrian Ángel De Jesús Hernández, 73, a resident of the Virgilio Dávila public housing complex, with a van.

The investigation was led by Agent Nicole Díaz Hernández under the supervision of Sergeant Luis D. Calderón Hernández and Lieutenant José A. Bonilla Ruiz, director of the Bayamón CIC Homicide Division.

Prosecutor Fernando Quintero filed the charges, and García Sánchez was re-admitted to federal prison.
