A trough north of Puerto Rico could promote the development of rain activity over some areas of the island on Saturday, according to meteorologist María Novoa of the National Meteorological Service (SNM). Novoa stated that during the afternoon, showers could form in western Puerto Rico, with a limited to high risk of flooding in some areas. Rain activity is also possible in the metropolitan area.
Additionally, Novoa warned that heat indices could increase during the day, exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and advised citizens to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure. These hot conditions are expected to persist in the coming days. The risk of marine currents remains low for most beaches around Puerto Rico.
For Sunday, the entry of low concentrations of Saharan dust is expected, which could limit rain activity. However, an increase in humidity is anticipated early in the week due to the approach of a tropical wave.
