The Puerto Rico Medical Center in Río Piedras is coordinating the possible transfer of patients affected by earthquakes in Venezuela. Secretary of the Department of Health, Víctor Ramos Otero, and Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Medical Services Administration (ASEM), Regino Colón Alsina, stated that a coordination process is in place to evaluate, case by case, the possible transfer of patients to receive specialized medical attention.
Governor Jenniffer González Colón is executing actions to support Venezuelan citizens, and the Department of Health is maintaining active communication with the US Army to support this humanitarian response. The transfer of patients would be coordinated with the US Army, under clear medical criteria, strict control protocols, complete documentation, and prior authorization from the Department of Health and ASEM.
The hospital of origin in Venezuela must complete and submit a standardized clinical form, which will be shared with the US Army base and evaluated by the Medical Center's Emergency Room to determine the services the patient may require.
