A 67-year-old man, Carlos Manuel Estefano Pino, was detained as a 'person of interest' in connection with the death of a woman in Caguas. The detention was carried out in Barceloneta by the Unidad de Fuerzas Conjuntas, led by Captain Alejandro Estrada, at around 6:12 a.m.
According to Inspector Carlos Alicea Contreras, the investigation is ongoing, and the detainee is suspected to have been involved in the woman's death. The victim, Jennifer Marie Torres Castro, was an nurse who was found dead in a residence in the Quebrada Arenas sector of Caguas on June 24.
The detainee was previously convicted of another feminicide and was released in 2023 by the Junta de Libertad Bajo Palabra. The Secretary of the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation, Francisco Quiñones, praised the work of the Unidad de Fuerzas Conjuntas and stated that the arrest was a result of their commitment to protecting the safety of all citizens in Puerto Rico.
