Judge Miriam M. Stefan Acta of the Bayamón Tribunal found cause for arrest against Elsa Menéndez Centeno, alias 'Nely', 48, for allegedly throwing a knife at police officer Fernando Colon Trinidad's face in Toa Baja's Levittown urbanization on Saturday. The Bayamón Prosecutor's Office charged Menéndez Centeno with serious assault, threat, and possession of a white weapon.
Stefan Acta set a $200,000 bail, which Menéndez Centeno could not pay, and she was taken to the Bayamón Women's Rehabilitation Complex. According to the investigation, Officer Colon Trinidad was negotiating with Menéndez Centeno, who was reported to be aggressive with a knife, when she suddenly threw the knife at him, causing an open wound on his chin. He was taken to the hospital, where he received seven stitches and is in stable condition.
Officer Gamalier Soto Cordero of the Bayamón CIC led the investigation.
