Fugitive Extradited to Puerto Rico for Brutal Murder in Mayagüez

Juan O. Peraza Jiménez, alias 'Gordo', a 26-year-old fugitive, has been extradited to Puerto Rico to face justice for his alleged involvement in a brutal murder in Mayagüez. Peraza Jiménez was arrested on June 4 in the state of Georgia and extradited to the island. He is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy, destruction of evidence, and possession and use of a deadly weapon, with a $2 million bail set by Judge Luis F.

Padilla Galeano. The charges stem from the murder of 31-year-old John Vadis Rivera, who was beaten, tortured, strangled, stabbed, and burned on June 26, 2025, in an apartment in Mayagüez. According to the investigation led by Agent Ángel López Sánchez, Rivera was lured to the apartment under the pretext of a social activity and was attacked by multiple individuals. The suspects then took photos of the body as evidence of the crime and later burned it in Ponce.

Peraza Jiménez was booked and admitted to the Bayamón Correctional Complex. Agent Freddy Ruiz was in charge of serving the arrest warrant.
