Judge María T. Hernández Calsada of the Caguas Tribunal found cause for arrest against Lillibeth Carrión Castro, 20, who is accused of causing the death of Police Officer Aníbal Morales Aponte, 53, in a January traffic accident in Caguas. Prosecutors Josenid Orozco Velázquez and Liza Y.
Morales Jusino charged Carrión Castro with violating the Vehicle and Traffic Law for negligent and reckless driving. The accident occurred on January 7 when Carrión Castro allegedly ran a red light, made an improper turn, and collided with Morales Aponte's motorcycle. The officer suffered multiple injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Judge Hernández Calsada set a $20,000 bail, which Carrión Castro posted, and she will remain under electronic supervision until the preliminary hearing on July 14.
