José Miranda Jumps to Mexican Baseball League

Puerto Rican infielder José Miranda has debuted in the Mexican Baseball League with the Sultanes de Monterrey. In his first three games, he has batted .182 with two hits in 11 at-bats.

Miranda was previously released by the San Diego Padres in May despite batting .268 with five home runs and 26 runs batted in at the Triple A level. The 27-year-old, who also plays for the Criollos de Caguas in the winter league, made his Major League debut in 2022 with the Minnesota Twins.

In four incomplete seasons in the majors, he averaged .263 with 28 home runs and 133 runs batted in across 298 games. In 2025, he played only 12 games before being sent to the minors and opted for free agency in 2026.
