Judge Rebecca Vera Ríos of the Fajardo Tribunal found cause for arrest against José Iván Carmona Osorio, who is accused of assaulting his partner with a hammer. Prosecutors Clarimar Marie Álvarez Carrasquillo and Dairene Santo Domingo Rivera charged Carmona Osorio with attempted first-degree murder, possession and use of a blunt weapon, and child abuse.

The incident occurred on Friday at 2:00 a.m. in the apartment Carmona Osorio shared with the victim in the Santiago Vevé Calzada residential area of Fajardo. The victim suffered serious head injuries, and a 15-year-old minor, the victim's son, was present during the incident.

Judge Vera Ríos set a bail of $800,000, which Carmona Osorio was unable to pay, so he will remain in custody until the preliminary hearing on July 14.
