The National Meteorological Service (SNM) in San Juan forecasted the presence of Sahara desert dust concentrations over Puerto Rico until Wednesday. Meteorologist Lee Ann Inglés stated that the peak concentration would occur between Saturday and Sunday, but the haze would continue to affect the island as it gradually decreases over the next few days.
A heat wave is expected, with temperatures reaching 100 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit in coastal and urban areas. The SNM reported a high risk of heat affecting sensitive individuals, with temperatures already reaching 80 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit in the San Juan area by 7:30 am.
Limited rain activity is expected, with possible thunderstorms in western sectors in the afternoon. A tropical wave is expected to arrive on Wednesday, potentially bringing a break in the heat.
