LUMA Energy to Perform Maintenance Work in 12 Municipalities

Updated Jul 7, 2026 · via Primera Hora

LUMA Energy announced that it will carry out scheduled maintenance and modernization work on the electrical grid in various parts of Puerto Rico on Tuesday, which may cause temporary power outages. The work includes replacing and repairing electrical lines and equipment, improving pole resilience, removing hazardous vegetation, repairing the underground system, installing automated equipment, repairing hot spots, and new construction projects.

LUMA noted that these works are part of its program to improve the electrical infrastructure and that service may be restored earlier than expected if the work is completed as scheduled. However, the dates and times are subject to change depending on weather conditions and other operational factors.

The work will be performed in 12 municipalities, although the specific municipalities were not specified in the announcement.
