Puerto Rico's Central Office for Recovery, Reconstruction and Resilience (COR3) has opened bidding for several FEMA-funded reconstruction projects, including the Puerta de Tierra Linear Walk in San Juan and two public schools. Interim Executive Director María L. Marín-Colón said the projects are entering the contracting phase and urged qualified contractors to participate, stating that greater competition strengthens execution, promotes transparency, and ensures efficient use of allocated funds.
The Highways and Transportation Authority published the bid for the Puerta de Tierra project after completing its design phase; the work addresses damage from Hurricane Maria and ongoing coastal erosion, and includes demolition, removal of existing material, and shoreline stabilization measures such as a steel pile wall, rocks, and geotubes. A virtual pre-bid meeting for that project is scheduled for July 22 at 2 p.m. The Department of Education has separately opened bidding for reconstruction work at Conchita Igartúa de Suárez School in Aguadilla and Juan B.
Stubbe School in Cidra; contractors have until July 17 to submit questions, with proposals due by Aug. 17. COR3 also encouraged contractors, suppliers, and professionals to use its Transparency Portal to identify procurement opportunities related to FEMA-funded recovery projects.
