The Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) fined the Santeros de Aguada $2,500 after a video showed a team executive paying cash bonuses to players following a 106-105 win over the Osos de Manatí on June 8. The league confirmed the fine, but declined to provide further information.
The video, which circulated on social media, appeared to show players receiving $20 bills from a team manager in the locker room. The BSN evaluated whether the Santeros' management had violated the Collective Contractual Cap and Luxury Tax Regulation, which could have resulted in a $250,000 fine, a 15-game ban on using reinforcements, and the loss of all 2027 draft picks.
The Santeros are currently active in the playoffs, having lost 101-98 to the Capitanes de Arecibo on Thursday.
