Updated Jul 12, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

Puerto Rico Police reported three separate shootings between Saturday night and early Sunday that left four people wounded across three municipalities. The first occurred around 8:20 p.m. on PR-617 in front of the Morovis municipal cemetery, wounding a 20-year-old.

Around 12:37 a.m., a 34-year-old man was shot at the security booth of the Ciudad Jardín La Cima housing development in the Bairoa neighborhood of Caguas. A third shooting was reported around 1:46 a.m. on PR-677 near a colmado in the El Nueve sector of Maricao neighborhood in Vega Alta, after a 911 call reported gunshots; two wounded men were taken to a hospital, though their identities and conditions were not disclosed.

These cases brought the weekend's shooting-injury total to six, following shootings Friday in Naguabo and Bayamón. Separately, four people were wounded with knives or machetes between Friday and Saturday: an unidentified victim in Ponce, a 39-year-old man in a domestic-violence case in Bayamón, a 41-year-old man attacked on PR-14 in Coamo's Vega Puente sector, and a 45-year-old man wounded with a machete during an alleged dispute between neighbors in Vega Alta's Sabana Hoyos neighborhood, an incident that required a police negotiator and ended in an arrest after an officer used a Taser.
